I just bought a 1998 X/90 with a automatic transmission. To the right of the shift lever ther is a toggle switch with the letters N A/T P.I looked in the onwers guide but it does not say anything about it.What is that switch for and what do the letters mean.

N is for normal driving, flip the switch and it will shift at a higher rpm. If I remember if your driving on ice put the trans in second and flip the sw. from normal to at and when you put the trans back to drive it will start off in second gear no (first gear) to hold back all of that horse power.

It changes the shift points of the automatic transmission - N is Normal, P is Power - N would be used for normal driving, P would be used in circumstances where you need more power, towing, driving uphill, that sort of stuff - it doesn't actually give you any more power, but it sets the transmission to shift at a higher rpm (holds the lower gear longer), making better use of the available power.
