Title: Body lift questions
Post by: SDS1992 on June 20, 2012, 05:55:02 PM
Thinking about getting a rocky road outfitters 2 inch body lift. Just wondering if anyone has used this lift and want to know if it's good or bad or if there's another body lift you guys recommend.  Also want to know what's involved in installing it, as I've never done a body lift before. Thanks

Take a look at SR CUSTOMS for good quality body lifts. I have on the RRO 2" body lift. The parts are pretty generic but get the job done. I did body lifts on two GVs using the RRO kit with no problems. Note that you need to lift the front and rear bumpers yourself..

The rear can lift with some 2" spacers, longer bolts and a lil adjustment on the steel bumper.

For the front, I simply cut off the factory mounts and welded them back on 2" lower.

My only complaint is their steering extension. I find the design flimsy and not well engineered. I never liked how the sleeve moves freely over the inner rod and the supplied bolts they sent were too long. Also if you over tighten the bolts, you can crush the rubber damper. (I don't know if I was installing it wrong, I tried on two occasions and always ended up modifying them to be stronger..)
