My truck began to make that ugly noise, any input on what it can be?

I opened the valve cover, removed the cams and saw that the lifters are not all the same, 5 of them seems soft to the touch and the other are very firm, maybe it is just a lifter problem... are they supposed to be hard or soft when you press on them?
