well its been since febuary that im looking for a replacement gas tank for my vitara, i am lucky enough that the little leak i had on the very bottom was temporary fixed with my jb weld job, i've made sure it was dry then sanded the area, then cleaned the area with brake cleaner. it is still holding up. but the question is for how long
does anybody know were to buy a brand new tank? the dealership at chevrolet told me 1500$ with no sending unit and i have to get my name on a list, wen the list is big enough they will make a batch. dosent sound good to me, suzuki price was a bit under 600$ but same story as chevrolet

If you can remove the tank when empty why can't you weld the hole shut ?

BOOM !! i hate welding on gas tanks, and i know there is a few other soft spot under it, too much work to save it

Google sloshing sealant - it might do what you need.

Where are you located?
I just blew my front diff, and replaced my rig with a 2006 TJ. About 2 years ago I had my tank professionally resealed, and it now has a life time warranty. Not sure what the cost of shipping would be, or how much I'd want for the tank just yet (may sell the whole rig instead of parting it out), but I figure it don't hurt to look into this if it helps out fellow Zuki lover.
My rig is a 2003 Vitara, 4 cylinder. I believe the tank is different on the 6 cylinder models.
