Title: 22r conversion
Post by: SHOTGUNBLAST on July 17, 2012, 09:45:34 AM
I need some help.  I purchased this Sammi a few months ago, and the conversion wasn't done quite as well as I wanted.  The 22r was put in buy a toyota ASE certified mechanic.  The axels and undercarriage were done by 4x4 outfitters out of Durango.  The problem I have is with the 22r swap.  The wiring that was done is horrible.  I had to replace the alternator almost immediately.  Now I am not receiving a charge, and the wiring from the alternator to the fuse box is a mess.  All the wiring was pretty bad to be honest.  My question is, is there a wiring harness already set up for a 22r conversion to the Samurai?  I could build one, but it would be much easier, if this has already been done.  Thanks!

Okay, I have swapped several alternators around on my old yota's.  What I have encountered is a no charge situation.  What I found out was that on the toyota truck it ran through a charge relay and throught the gauge, I just happened to have a gauge that was not functional, therefore, no charge.  Long story short, get yourself a gm one wire and bolt her on.  If I remember correctly I didnt have to build a brack, the yota ones worked fine with slight modification.

Pretty damn hard to screw up a 22r swap lol! all I did was modify the stock 22r bracket(minor grinding)and bolted in the samurai alt then used the same starter wires....done.Why would someone go through all the trouble of modding the harness??
