Title: my samurai trys to stall when i first give it gas

My samurai tries to stall when i first push the pedal ,I have to pump the gas pedal to get the rpm over 2000 at this time it will take off fine.any ideas i can try would be appeciated.this is a 1987 JX model.

either accel pump not pumping or idle mixture too lean.

I had a similar problem after a 1500 mile road trip. Mine would idle smooth and would run with your foot to the floor but nothing in between. I found that the fuel bowl screws were loose from the carb base. I found I could twist the top of the carb from the base so, I removed the carb tighten the 4 screws and now it runs better than ever.
