I am building a daily driver, http://www.zukiworld.com/forum/build-diaries-how-to-diy/saving-an-87-samurai-from-the-wrecker-budget-daily-driver-plus-trails-build/ (http://www.zukiworld.com/forum/build-diaries-how-to-diy/saving-an-87-samurai-from-the-wrecker-budget-daily-driver-plus-trails-build/) , and am looking for a pair of seats that will be able to stay out in the rain and not soak up water to the point that they stay wet for 2 days. The stock seats would work for a little while with some cheap seat covers but will eventually need to be replaced.

Ummm....doesnt matter what kind of seat you have, if you submerged in water, your seat is wet. Ba-dummm-bummmmp!

Seek and ye shall find - just wipe dry & go.

I have a set of the Bestop jeep seats in mine. I run a bikini top all summer so the get wet. I keep a towel in a zip top bag and they wipe right off. I got the vinyl ones

I ran these for years and liked them. Everyone else liked them more once I picked up a couple of the vinyl covers that I just pulled off when I was done wheeling.

Vinyl covers and seam sealer will produce a waterproof seat, just like any motorcycle seat.

We have used these in our sand cars for years, they also have a removable cover available

The seats dont soak up water through the seams?

I have thought about those plastic seats but how comfortable are they on an 8 hour drive? And, yes I know the Samurai isnt a Cadillac.
I am starting to wonder how well a set of neon seats with home made gortex seat covers would work., and how hard they would be to make.

It really depends on the driver. I'm 6'4 and found that the seats fit me perfectly and I have done 24 hours straight during the Team Trophy Challenge Washington without any complaints. However most others found that they tended to be a bit uncomfortable until I finally broke down and purchased the seat covers.
As for the ride, it got much better when we did an RUF up front then even more once we 4-linked the rear. Now and then I miss the SJ... :(

I had an RCI racing seat for the Gnewt.
Never quite got around to installing it.
Hmm, I wonder if I can install it on my boat!

They may take in a small amount but not enuf to get me wet and they are in the sun a lot so they dry out quick if they do.
