What I mean is starting the car for the first time for the day, it will idle terribly and when pressing the accelerator to keep the car from dying the car sputters almost like I can't rev it at all... this just started a couple days ago, what could it be? It is worth noting that any other time after the first time I start the car cold for the day it will start up fine and idle great ???

I would check your coil wire and then change your plugs.

Yea I can't even tell you when the last time that stuff was changed out, will have to get that done for sure.

Does it start up right away but just not idle smooth at first ? Mine runs rough at first but also takes several tries before it will attempt to start. Like yours it runs fine and fires right up after that (unless it sits for a few hours).

It usually does start up right away just idles rough, but after that when I start the car again it will be fine? Have you been able to solve the problem or just been dealing with it?

I haven't done anything yet, unfortunatly I haven't had the time or $ to put into it so I have it non oped and don't drive it. I start it up once or twice a week. I do know that the choke isn't functioning like it should but I wouldn't think that alone would cause it to be so hard to start. Especially this time of year. I have another carb with low miles that I plan on installing some day. Like you, I need to change the plugs, wires, cap and rotor. And then there's the timing belt, front seals on and on lol.
I'm sure you'll get yours sorted out before me so I'll be interested to see what you find.

Im not so sure lol, I have two project cars, but since fall and winter is coming up, godzuki will take priority obviously... gotta do the tune up, new batt, new tires, and tranny/TC bolt/shifter sheet... Im not sure when the timing belt was changed either so probably gotta add that to the list as well... thankfully these cars are simplistic and easy to work on compared to other cars. Have you checked your cat converter? Maybe that is getting plugged? Maybe worth checking out?

Ok well I did the tune up.. first of all WOW! It is STUPID easy to do a tune up on the 1.3 motor, even easier than my car and that is pretty easy to work on as well.... anyways, I havent started the car yet, gonna wait three hrs since I put down silicone on my car and want to let that dry some, will report back then!

Well unfortunately that didnt help the sputtering when first starting the car but the car does run better because of the new stuff
