I'm thinking about getting the kit but need to know how hard it is to put on and how much welding and cutting is involved.
Thanks, Mike
-
Raising it? I thought you were going to slam it when you joined :-/

Yeah well I'm confused :o ??? :-/
When everyone asks me "when you gonna lift it?" and I say I'm not I'm gonna lower it. They look at me like I'm retarded. Though when I tell them the prices on the 2 lift kits that I know of they kinda understand.
I like the look of both raised and lowered, but you guys are starting to get to me ;D and I'm leaning towards raised now since everyone that I know thinks I should too.
I just don't want to get into something that I can't do. My uncle has a welder(don't know what kind. Does it matter?) and does alot of mechanic stuff for family so he would help but I don't want to take up his garage for a week or so either.
-
Ha, we got to ya ;D Realy, do what you want. Hell, most everyone thinks were all crazy for building Kicks any way ;)
After this weekend, if someone has not responded about the RRO Kit bump this back to the top. Alot of the guys are in Moab this week. I know some of the guys Hagen rides with uses that Kit and he will be able to tell you about it when he gets back. I ran a 2" Calmini Kit for a long time on my sidekick and now it is on my X-90 and still holding up great.

Well I'd like to raise it but price is a factor. I'm tring to weigh the options right now
RRO Kit- $775 w/shipping
5 new 15x7 rims $50-150ea. Depends what kind I get. I'll say $700 to stay on the high side
5 new tires I think that 30/9.50's are a good size without alot of bumper cutting. I'll say $700 again to stay high
Total $2175
Prices I know for lowering.
Lowering springs-$200 w/shipping
5 Enket RTS Rims 17x8 $1000
5 Kumho STX Tires 255/50 $500
2 Doshtech lowering shocks $80
Total almost $1800
So its real close. If I could find the right lifted wheel/tire combo it might be even.
-
Lift it. You can do so many more things with a lifted rig than lowered. But I am kinda biased I guess....... BTW zig I love the lifted rollerskate. Like Eric says nothin like wheelin with a trunk!
-
Well I am one of the big lift guys but if you really want to lower it then do what YOU want! don't let someone else decied for you. (You may still realize it was a horrible idea but at least it is Your idea. ) ;D
Me personally if I lowered it I would stick a V6 out one of the
big suzukis

;D I bought it to replace my econo-ride I was commuting in and being the Zukifreak that I am I couldn't leave it alone ::) It also helped having the Old Calmini 2" lift sitting on the floor in the shop ;D

That was my plan but since I can't seem to find an XL-7 with a 5spd for cheap, plans are kinda changing. If I ever do find a 5spd XL-7 cheap and have a lift kit already on I'm STILL gonna do an engine swap ;D
-
Your tire pricing is definitly on the high side if you wanna keep it on a budget hit up your local Wal-Mart I just bought some 33" mudders from them for 100.00 per tire they are real aggressive and look alot like a Swamper. The manufacturer is Super Sport. Then go buy a set of 4 black rockcrawler wheels for $36 a piece. It would be easy to have a set of wheels and tires for under $700. I'm into mine a whopping $620 and thats with custom backspaced wheels and 33's... your's would be even cheaper. ;D

99.... I SEE YOUR GOING THROUGH THE SAME PHASE WE'VE PROBABLY HAD TO ENDURE. WHAT LIFT/ LOWERING KIT. WHATS BETTER , WHATS LESS EXPENSIVE YET STILL GOOD. ITS A TOUGH CHOICE BUT DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY ;D I KNOW I WAS PICKED ON FOR DOWNSIZING MY TIRES ( NOT HERE) INSTEAD OF BIGGER OR EQUAL , BUT I'M HAPPY NO MORE RUBBING, RIDE GREAT ON THE ROAD & ARE VERY QUIET COMPARED TO MY SWAMPERS.....SO BE SURE YOUR PLAN IS SOLID BEFORE YOU SPEND THE $ $$$ BECAUSE WHEN YOUR LOOKING FOR SOMETHING ITS ALLWAYS BIG $$$$ BUT WHEN YOU TRY AND UNLOAD IT SEEMS TO BE JUST THE OPPOSITE >:( GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR TRACKER :o MATTY D. 8)

If I go with the RRO kit what size tires will fit without  alot of cutting to the bumpers?
I called Discount Tires awhile back and they said that 30's will fit on a stock 99+ Tracker, thats the biggest they could fit on it. So if I got a 4.5" lift could I fit 31's or 32's? I'm not gonna be anywhere where I would need alot of flex, unless after the lift I go look for something to play on/in ::) It's gonna be mostly on road with some off road maybe on the weekends if I got the time.
-
i'd get 33's and trim a bit. i would try to fine some 33 with a 5 on 5 1/2 bolt padderen and test fit with them before buying new rubbers.( ya i said it)

what is the number size for 30, 31, 32, 33's?
I think 30's are 245/75-15 what are the other sizes so I could look them up too.
-
32x11.50 are 265/75/R16...also google is your friend: http://www.csgnetwork.com/tireinfo4calc.html ;D

Got back earlier today from a 4-day trip to Las Vegas for work. What a mad house on the strip!!!
As for tire sizing, I'd wait till you get the lift on. Take your measurements then. Who knows, Discount may mount a set for 'sizing' right there in the shop. If you do this, make sure it's at least a pair mounted on same axle. Mounting one won't do it, unless you like to 'round out' numbers.
Don't forget a drastic change in tire diameter, brings down the performance of the car roadwise, thus the need for changing ratios.
-
Check the tire size twice before you buy. Procomp tires has a calculator and 265/75/16 comes out to 31.6/10.5 or something close. Every tire company's tires mesure out different. plus rim width will change tire hight.

Oh who am I kidding I'll NEVER do anything to my tracker. Lift, lower, engine swap, blah blah  >:(
Thanks for the info but I think I was just dreaming. :'(

Thanks NY
I was haveing a really bad day when I wrote that :-[ but, I probably still won't do anything cause we are tring to pay bills off so we could start saving for a house. Maybe in like 2 years or so I could do what I want to the Tracker but for now I think its staying stock.

ALL IN GOOD TIME 99. ITS BETTER TO PAY OFF THAT C.C. DEBT ANY HOW. IT WILL TURN AROUND & BITE YOU IN THE A$$ WHEN YOU LEAST SUSPECT IT. THE C.C. COMPANIES SUCK YOU IN, THEN OFFER YOU MORE MORE MORE , TIL YOU CAN ONLY AFFORD MINIMUM PAYMENTS , WHICH THEY LOVE, CAUSE THE FEW THOUSAND YOU GET FROM THEM WILL MAKE THEM 10 -20 TIMES THAT IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO GET RID OF THEM . ALSO I'LL ASSUME THAT YOU PROBABLY HAVE PAYMENTS ON YOUR 99, SO IN A FEW YEARS MAYBE IT WILL BE PAID FOR. THEN YOU CAN START DUMPING WHAT YOU USED FOR PAYMENTS INTO MODS. THATS MY 2 CENTS ANYHOW, HANG IN THERE , YOUR RIDE IS STILL KICK A$$ THE WAY IT IS ;) MATTY D. 8)

I KNOW I KEEP THINKING HMMMM GO BORROW 5 GRAND & BUILD ME A REAL BAD ARSE ZUKE . BUT THEN I SAY NO NO WAIT TIL YOU CAN PAY FOR AS YOU GO. IN TODAYS ECONOMY YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT LURKS AROUND THE CORNER. MY WIFE & I ENJOYED A PRETTY FREE FLOWING LIFE STYLE. DID WHAT WE WANTED WITH IN REASON. THAN WAM.......SHE GETS HURT ON THE JOB & A YEAR LATER SHE'S STILL INJURED, GETTING A WOPPING $120. A WEEK INSTEAD OF THE 500. + SHE USED TO GET, AND TO TOP IT OFF HER EMPLOYER OF 16 YEARS SAID THEY WOULD REPLACE HER & SHE WASN'T GOING TO HAVE A JOB IF OR WHEN SHE DOES HEAL . HERE IN NY AFTER 120 DAYS THEY CAN REPLACE YOU & NOT HIRE YOU BACK. IMAGINE THAT AYE , HURT ON THE JOB & THEY JUST WRITE HER OFF LIKE ........& IN NY YOU CANT SUE YOUR EMPLOYER. SO LIFE CAN BITE YOU IN THE ARSE EVEN WHEN YOU THINK YOUR SECURE. SO MY ADVICE TO ANYONE IS TO PAY UP FRONT & KNOW ITS YOURS. SORRY FOR THE RAMBLING BUT THIS CAN HAPPEN TO ANYONE. PLEASE ESPECIALLY YOU YOUNG GUYS GETTING STARTED, DON'T LOAD UP ALOT OF C.C. DEBT OR IT COULD KILL YOUR FINANCIAL FUTURE IF SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS TO YOU OR YOUR PARTNER. ...........SLOWLY MODDING MY ZUKE BUT HEY THERE PAID FOR ;D MATTY D. ;)
-
Yeah, we are making a plan to pay as much bills off as soon as we can including our cars. We figured that if we don't spend much on ourselves and put it to bills we will have all the credit cards and cars both paid off by the end of next year. 8) Then we could start saving for a house. Woohoo only $7000 to go on my Tracker 8) ;D
-
I found it easier to pay of my C.C. was to transfer to a lower or 0% card. They always come in the mail offering 0% for a year and when the years up, I transfer it again.

That is nice to do, and easy enough to do also. Though it takes some effort on your part. You need to keep up with your ongoing charges you make today and those you made last month, month before, etc.
You need to read into the fine print on some of those 0%ers. Some charge a rate to new purchases with a balance transfer, some charge a rate when you don't make the minimum payment, some charge a rate, then you have to ask for the interest back otherwise you forfeit the interest. There are a lot of credit schemes out there. Make sure you know what you are signing into.
-
Don't charge anymore.
I have 2 C.C.
0% Read the small print. some will charge for balance tranfers and some don't.
The other card I use for Emergancies.
(or new parts ;D)
The one with 0%, I don't activate the card.
No Problem.
But don't make minimum Payments, Thats the scam part. The minimum payment is just the % and it would take forever to pay off that way (if you didn't use it).
-
Well lets see, since my wife started working again last month(She got temperarily laidoff), we havn't used a c.c. and have been able to pay atleast $100 each c.c.
C.C. Debt STINKS BAD but you gotta do what you gotta do to live unfortunatly.
I got 2 cards switched to 0% and we're making atleast double the minimum. Bad part is those 2 cards have a min. balance of almost $120. The other few cards are around $30-50
In all we have about $12K in C.C. debt :o :'(
-
12 Grand. Well it can be done. I had one with 10G after a year and a half (bout the time I started this) and with 0% tranfers, double payments and Tax returns, I'm finnally down under 3 grand (I think) and still squeeking out a car payment (barely) Now if I can just win the lottery ;D
Then Calmini does it again and comes out with more needed stuff But I'm holding back.
