I did the search, didnt find what i needed. long story short. ....pulled manual tranny on 86 sammy (dint need to) when I drained it the oil was thick, black and bubbly. (maybe a lil water too) so what can I safely use to flush/clean it out before I put it back on and fill it with the right oil again?

Diesel fuel. I'd fill it full, by filling it through the shifter hole. Then put the tcase in neutral and run the tranny through the gears for a minute or two. That should circulate the diesel and break up any old oil. Then drain it (if the diesel comes out really contaminated, you flush it again), and refill with 80/90 gear oil.
I've used diesel to flush out a tcase that used to always get water in it.
