Title: Android GPS App?
Post by: Khodabear on August 01, 2012, 05:07:05 PM
Anybody have a recommendation for an Android GPS app?
Looking at Trimble but would like to hear from users.
Thanks!

Just use your GPS in the vehicle.

Thanks. I never would have thought of that.

No and yes.  It has to have internet to look up the caches.  You can then save them for off line use.  I will often save some caches before I lose service then put the coordinates into another GPS.

I also use c:geo on my droid phone; it is very useful for geocaching.  I also use gpsstatus for basic GPS functions.  For navigation I use the built in Google maps function, but I still rely mostly on my Garmin Nuvi for turn by turn directions.

I used CoPilot GPS on my recent trip to upper Michigan.  It does not require cell service.  I did pay for an inexpensive upgrade to allow me to do trip routing but the free version still works well as a GPS.  It had all of the unpaved forest service roads in the national forest I was in on it.
