any reason why a lot of guys dont have a spare tire on their sami? too hard on the hinges? thats the only reason i can think of, cause i have a 31 on mine and it clears the bumper fine... the door definetly sags when you open it though
for you guys without the spare, do you just throw it in the back when you go wheelin?
btw, mine didnt come with one on it either

You are close. The main reason that most people with larger tired sammies don't have spares on them is a couple of reasons. The tire is too large to clear the rear bumper, it weighs enough that it causes the tailgate hinges to tear off the corner of the tub as well as the tailgate itself to tear, and the tire mount ends up cracking.
If you are enough of a cheapskate and/or don't have the money for a bumper/tire carrier combo, you/I can reinforce the hinges and tire carrier.
If you want me to do it, I can do the reinforcing for $30 for the hinges and $50 for the tire mount, exchange is needed for both.

idaholwb, arnt you in moab?

I wish! Money problems, couldn't go.
Maybe next year. :(
-
what does reinforcing entail?
i like to try things myself, the tire mount seems fine, but im willing to bet those hinges are ready to rip off.
i understand if these are trade secrets and you dont wanna release them :P

MY KICK DOESN'T HAVE A SPARE YET , ONLY CAUSE THE ZUKE FUND IS LOW. I HAD A SPARE FOR THE 32'S BUT NONE YET FOR THE NEW 31'S BUT MAYBE NEXT WEEK ;D MATTY D. 8)

i had a 34 on my tracker tailgate and backed into a tree with it. trashed the tailgate and then it started to rip so now i don't run one.

Gee, I don't have a problem! ;D
Atleast not since I built my swingout.
My gate started to crack by the upper hinge also but the body remained solid. Best bet is to get a swing out rack to eliminate the whole issue. (http:// http://www.quickvwbug.4wdriver.com/images/dunon31back1c_0010.jpg )

My word exactly.

Yeah I know, funny looking right. I threw on the 31's so it's mobile again while I wait for my nationwide backordered 35's from ProComp. >:(

It's weird. I have a sweet Swing out tire carrier that I paid big money for and I have never mounted in on the Zuk. I run Beadlocks so I don't run a risk on popping a bead plus I run zero psi on the trail which helps avoid punctures. I guess I have just been lucky to notneed one :-/

Thats what happened to my original tailgate and you know what - I swear I came straight down the hill. Got wedged up against a tree root and reversed back, bang! where did that tree come from ???

nice setup "87blacksami"!
those swing out tire carriers are cooler too cause you can make jackall holders, shovel holders, or anything else next to it
hmmm seeing my bumpers falling off i think a welder should be next on the list

Thanks. Actually I have a hilift mount but with it mounted I can't fit in the garage. :(
