86' Samurai 1.3 with the Weber carb...Starts great from a "cold" start, idles with NO wierd noises runs around the yard fine then suddenly wants to quit/wont idle. When I first start it I can hear the elec fuel pump, but I'm not so sure after its been run and starts to act up.Let it set a few minutes later it wont start, acts like (its not getting fuel OR its flooded)??Blows some smoke from the get go but oh well,I need to kill those misquitoes!!

Sounds to me like flooding issues. An electric pump for a Webel must have ONLY a 1-4 lb volume. It must have a return line filter to bleed off the excess pressure Napa part# 3040 it must have a pressure regulator Holley 12-804 or similar. The old factory restricter must be removed from the frame rail (located directly above the rear passenger axle). Look for a short pc of rubber hose a plastic valve and another short pc of hose. Keep us posted.

Try unscrewing your gas cap, your vent may be stopped up in the fuel tank and causing a vacuum stoping fuel flow.

Great advice, thanks!!Poured some GAS from a small container into the carb, started for a brief (seconds) so I am replacing the elec fuel pump. When I touch the elec fuel pump wires to positive/negative I hear NOTHING,so it aint workin!!

Got that new ($45) fuel pump and hooked it up,when I turn the key "on" it definatly is workin...no gas(??) So I am going to try to "prime" it,wish me luck!!

Weak ass new ($45) pump!!would not do squat even with a small jar of gas 10" away for it to suck up!! Hooked up the 'ol pump..sucked that jar dry!! :-[Guess it was a bad ground,so now I have good gas to the carburator, runs good!!(Took that ($45) pump back, gave me $$ to gas up the big truck,go muddin!!)
