Title: 1995 Suzuki JX 4x4 - fixer upper for best offer - Nevada City, CA
Post by: dori on August 19, 2012, 02:13:06 PM
my dad, who is known around these parts as "bent parts" (or Mike Kallie) got me into these things, but alas, my dad lives in New Jersey and I now live in Nevada City, CA

bought this as a fixer-upper, didn't get it all fixer-uppered before we came out here, and i am the mother of a toddler with no time to learn basic auto mechanics or body work at the moment (tho i want to!) - so taking it to a mechanic for updates and such is too much of a money suck for me.

anyway, i just bought another one that doesn't require so much fixing-up, so i'd like to pass my old one along. it needs some love, for sure, mechanically. engine has about 95k on it, but the trannie has about 200k and i'd wager to say it won't last much longer. shocks etc. were all replaced last year but needs new tires. automatic, 1.5" lift. i am just about to replace the driver's side window since a bear broke into my car last month and shattered the thing tho miraculously, left no scratches, just paw prints, on the door. all mirrors are intact and in place.

body's decent but there are a few dings here and there. back door needs inside panel and the lock fixed. dash needs to be replaced as it's always been a little shredded, the speedometer's funky - works, but is wiggly and about 5 mph off. the plastic sheath for the gear shift (as in, the thing that says "P, R, N" etc.) is broken. 4x4 works just fine :) i am going to retrieve it from the body shop tomorrow after the window's in and take some photos. spare tire rack (spare's kinda bad tho, never used it, either) and luggage rack. AC hasn't ever worked since i had it. has tow hitch. power steering is about all the "power" this thing has - no power locks, etc. it passed smog here in cali (barely) and the computer was rebuilt during that process by another zukiworld member - the engine harness had been removed prior to my purchase so the mechanic who smogged it hacked one together. it ain't pretty, but it could be if someone out there wanted to put the kind of effort into it my dad has into his (check his out! 1995 Geo Tracker Turbo intercooled (http://www.flickr.com/photos/bentparts/324308517/#)). i wish it could be me but not at this point in my life. right now i just need a decent little 4x4 that will get me and my kiddo around town and down some pretty bumpy dirt roads.

any questions, just send me a private message and i'll respond with more detailed contact information. prefer to sell to someone who can deal with retrieving it. :)

thanks,
dori

I'd have to bring my WHOLE shop, and besides, I'm too tired! It will make a good trail rig for somebody.
