Has anyone used one of these? I am thinking about it for my stock 96 Sidekick. I don't off road to much, but I would like it in bad weather and mud. Any input would be great.
Thanks,
Chris

Might pull you up on a trailer if the ramp wasn't too steep. If you are stuck in mud or high centered it would not pull you out. Go to Harbor Freight and get one at least 5k to 8k at least.

2500 is just about right for a 650lb ATV, seriously underpowered for such a large vehicle as a sidekick.
-
Ok, thanks for the info.

I use a 2-2.5 times the actual vehicle weight of the vehicle for a starting point for a winch
-
Usually Warn is in here to talk about winches. Must not be on-line yet. :D
1.5 your vehicle weight is the minimum recommended winch pull. But like talon said, 2-2.5 means you can pull yourself up the hill. On my DD I will probably go with a smaller 5k more to pull me out of a ditch then for real wheeling. For a proper off-road rig 8-9k.

ya need to figure the capacity of a heep winch when gauging for a Zuk, ya gonna be winching them out far more than yourself,,,,,
-
Sounds good to me. Anyplace I can get a winch cheap?
-
Your want cheap or inexpensive?
Harbor Freight has cheap - for inexpensive, shop around - Mile Marker, Smitty Built, or the Warn VR range
-
the harbor freight winchs are a good winch, had 6k on my sammy and never had any problem with em

Our formula we use here at Warn is 1.5 x gross vehicle weight rating = minimum pulling capacity.
Give a look to our WARN VR8000 winch: $479 Might fit the bill.
