Title: PowerFest 2012 Flyer and Sign-Up
Post by: ebewley on August 29, 2012, 08:00:17 PM
Hello - Here's some details and a flyer on the upcoming PowerFest. We're going to give out a free t-shirt to the first 20 drivers that reply to this thread. (Reply with Full Name, What your Driving, & Shirt Size) Remember, you'll have to show up to get it! Also we're going to have a simple BBQ feed Saturday night. We're planning on camping close to (somewhere along road 2510) but not at the Ground Hog Rock Crawl Friday and Saturday nights. If there's interest, we could caravan from the Valley out there midday-ish Friday.

Itinerary:
Friday - Possible Caravan mid-day; then camping.
Saturday - Meet at the Ground Hog Rock Crawl 9AM; talk and group up; head out
Satuday (cont.) - Somewhere around 6PM have a BBQ / hangout. (details given at morning meeting)
Sunday - Head for home mid-day.

Looking for volunteers. (1) to help w/cooking, (2) to help with a 'harder' trail ride, (1) to help with an 'easier' trail ride, (2) 'pop-ups' for the BBQ. Please PM me if you can help out.

Please take a moment and share this information about our informal and free activity with your Suzuki enthusiast friends.

Directions:
From Bend: Follow Hwy 20 east about 20 miles. After crossing the Horse Ridge Summit, turn right on the second road, Spencer Well Road (paved Road 23). Proceed south for 5.5 miles until the road forks. Take the paved Road 25 to the right and proceed to the Road 25/2510 Junction. Turn left onto Road 2510 and travel approximatlely 7 miles to the Ground Hog Rock Crawl and OHV Play Area.

From La Pine: Take the Finley Butte Road (paved Road 22) east about 24 miles to the intersection of Road 18. Turn left on Road 18 and travel approximately 4 miles to the intersection of Road 2270. Turn Right on Road 2270 and travel approximately 4 miles to the intersection of Road 2510. Turn left heading north on Road 2510 and travel approximately 8 miles to the Ground Hog Rock Crawl OHV Play Area.

Hi Bob - Thanks for volunteering. Don't worry about bringing the Treager out; I've got the grill part covered.

Thanks again!

Hi Fred - Glad your going to make it out... As for GPS coordinates, I could post up the Rock Crawl area itself if you'd like. We plan on camping somewhere around that so I won't really know where exactly until we land. It'll be somewhere close to the rock crawl area on road 2510

Hey, guys. Saturday, 9/29, is the opening day of deer season over here. Camping spots are going to be at a premium and you may want to throw in a blaze orange hat or vest.

If it comes to that there is a ton of room at the rockcrawl to camp. I plan on heading over friday from the valley. Anyone want to caravan?

Greg I am loading up Thursday (after coming back from Bend for work that morning. Lame I know) then will be ready to leave early Friday. I would like to caravan with you. Wanted to get over there early to get things scoped out and lay claim to some sites for the group.

Is there an official time a caravan is leaving? We'd love to caravan with some others. We'll be coming from Portland.

It looks like my wife might need to put in a half day on Friday, so we might not leave until later.

Is the plan to camp at the rock crawl on Friday night?

As for camping, I plan on camping close to but not at the rock crawl if that helps any. We'll be tenting it...

OK. So if we show up sometime on Friday afternoon, is it going to be obvious where everyone is camping on that road? I assume it's just open camping?

Just want to make sure we know where we're going and where to stop on Friday. :-)

It'll be obvious. One can see many of the 'good' camp spots right from 2510 as you head towards Ground Hog Rock crawl. Anywhere in that area is dispersed camping and we'll be there somewhere. :)

Just checked with forest service. No fires, Gas cook stoves only, generators need to be off sheltered away from vegetation and preferably off the ground.
