Title: 2001 GV Trans Rebuild
Post by: dasher on September 06, 2012, 09:27:24 PM
Hi I was wondering if anyone has done a Trans rebuild on a Vitara with a 03-72LE / A44DE Trans.  I have a trans with 150000 miles on it and I'm wondering if I should rebuilt it before I mate it up to my engine with only 80000 miles on it.

Who sells the best kit?  Do I get the kit with the Steels? Do I replace the torque converter?

Any help would be great

Thanks

You're planning to "rebuild" an automatic transmission yourself?

No offense meant, but that's not exactly a backyard job, and from your questions, I'd say you lack the experience required - I've torn down manual transmissions, but automatics require a level of experience, cleanliness & equipment beyond that of the average mechanic (and I'm talking fully equipped shops here).

Transparts warehouse can probably supply a kit, I've used them for my manual transmission rebuilds.
