I just picked up a set of camber alignment bolts for a 4WD kick to finish up my 2" budget lift, but I find out that they are 10mm bolts, & what is on the kick now are 12mm strut mounting bolts, the shop said that's what is called for. Does any one know if the adjustable alignment bolts are 10mm not 12mm ????
seams to me to be a little strange to have two different size bolts.... any help?

The actual " bolt " part of the camber adjustment bolt is a bit smaller than the hole it goes into. The " cam " part of the bolt should just fit the hole. You also have to use the tabbed washer that comes with the kit to keep the cam bolt in alignment with both strut holes.

The shop is mistaken - 12mm bolts are what is needed.
Go to the Ingall's engineering website and enter your vehicle details and see what part number it calls out for the cam bolts - the other way is to remove one of the existing strut-spindle bolts and measure the diameter - which I believe you've already done.
bentparts - the actual bolt part is smaller, but the "cam" part has to match the original bolt diameter, which is why it's possible to determine the cam bolt needed by measuring the original mounting bolt.
I discovered this after measuring the bolts on a number of vehicles - for example a Suzuki Swift takes the same Ingalls part number as the Suzuki Vitara - sounds strange doesn't it? I needed to get cam bolts for a Mitsubishi that's not listed in the Ingalls application guide, worked out that it needed 12mm, Ingalls wouldn't respond to email so I took the chance and ordered them, and have them installed for about a year now.

it does seem funny to put in smaller hardware, but they work fine.
i was afraid of snapping them the first time i torqued 'em.

Thanks for all the imput, & thanks for the Engalls Engineering websight....Fordem I checked the bolts that I have with there part number for the + - 2* bolt kit & it was the same part number 81250 made by Specialty Products.
It is a 10mm bolt, but as Bentparts said the cam makes the bolt 12mm in size, & if you think about it if the bolt was 12mm then it would be 14mm at the cam.....kinda hard to shove into a 12mm hole...LOL So going to try these, but will tell the alignment shop to check them out anyway.
Thanks for the info.

Yeah, that's what I meant to say :P The actual bolt IS smaller to make room for the cam part which should be the same size as the hole in the strut/knuckle. Just be sure you don't torque them to more than the recommended limit, mine are 80 ft lbs. Anymore than that can weaken them. So far mine have held up fine for years and many miles.

Dont torque the camber bolts to the torque spec required for the stock bolts.
I had used Ingalls camber adjusting bolts on several applications and have had them snap and fail(not from overtightening) as well as stretch and allow the knuckle joint to flop around. I now ONLY slot strut housings and use a stock knuckle bolt to hold everything together, not too mention there is no cost slotting!!!

Never once had an issue with the camber bolts breaking or stretching. Must be the brand? I've only used Moog.

Talk about confusion - 10 mm bolt/12 mm cam - Ingalls calls it a 12 mm camber bolt because it replaces a 12 mm strut bolt - they don't pay any attention to the diameter of the bolt part of it .

It is confusing, especially when you look at the actual bolt diameter, but it's the cam they measure I guess.
