Hi and thanks for any advice... I'm looking to put in a 1.6 8v MFI tracker eng into my 86 Sami...
1. It has 64k miles comes with all accessories. What's a fair price? It's off a 92 tracker.
2. What upgrades do you recommend to give it some extra HP? Use will be trails, some crawling and around town here in big bear.
3. I'm in CA so it needs to pass smog!
4. She's going to sit on 31s...
Thanks again for helping a noob! I need and appreciate good advise!

I did the 16v swap. I think you should do the swap... see how you like the 20% (or so) increase in power first. Even if you do not re-gear with the 31's you will see a huge difference. Next best "upgrade" for adding power would be gearing IMO.

I am doing the 8V swap also. I added a header and flipped the intake so my snorkel is on the pasengers side and the intake tubing does not cross over the exhaust (not great for intake temps). A 2.5" exhuaust plumbing will help it breathe a little easier too, aftermarket cats are plentiful to stay within smog. (not sure about those details though)
I regeared my Tcase to 6.5-1 and axles to 4.30 gears in order to run 33" tires. You shouldn't have to go to that extreme but a nice tcase regear would be handy anyway.
As with any motor, give it plenty of air, fuel and spark and it will give you power...
