Didn't have much time to take it anywhere today, plus we didn't want to drive it a lot with unbalanced drivelines. But we did manage to flex the front up a little.

We cut the frame and reinforced where we cut it... and it looks like it worked out well!  :o

so are you done doing suspen. work or are you going to mod it some more?
stu
-
and how much do you think you have in it as a round cost?

we will probably put longer shackles on the back or go with a shorter shock... the shocks are behaving like bumpstops in the back.

um... mentally, physically, or money cost? lol..
I'll have to figure that out and get back to you.

You'll be best to go with a shackle. From the pics, it looks like the shackle is completely angled out, whereas the springs isn't flat from being convex. In comparison, your front springs look great for the movement. The shackle angles out whereas the spring flattens, then concaves. Perfect for it's function.
As for the rear shocks, isn't there enough room to do an angled inward setup, similar for a Sami?
You also forgot to add, that the front sway bar was still attached. Take a look at those bushings in action.....
-
We are kicking around the idea about the sammy inward angled shocks. Not quite sure yet.
Then again, the shocks being setup like the toys, would be a good idea.
-
The Kick looks great! :o Very nice flex.... one question: now that you've been through this, would you do it again (excluding the OTT additions)? Or, maybe wait for the Calmini kit? I suppose the answer would partially depend on how much $$$ you have invested.
Congats on getting it done, I'm sure you're gonna have a blast at Moab.

ALL RED X'S >:( MATTY D. ::)

NOW ITS WORKING ;D SWEET SWEET SWEEEEET :o

::)Hey, I think the pics are great! They definitely give us something to strive for. How did you address the transfer case slip yoke issue? Thanks! See you in Maob? Jeff :D
-
Still think it kicks ass even if you think they are cheesy!!

Using slip yokes from a sammy.... somehow we managed to measure close enough to get them balanced, and to get us to moab and back, but in the long run we will need a cv setup for the front shaft... there are some minor angles that the u-joint rubs a little.
Moab in THREE DAYS!

;DNice Job!! Thanks for the detailed pics, it helps me understand more of what is involved with the OTT kit. I also understand the driveshafts better as well. I'll be looking for you in Moab to watch your rig in action! Jeff 8)

are you gonna run bigger tires??

Yeah... later... after I wear these out. Room for 35's in the garage still ;D

HEATHER, I'LL BET YOUR NEIGHBORS THINK YOUR WACKED AYE ........DO ALL THE PARENTS OF YOUNG CHILDREN RUN TO BRING THERE CHILDREN IN WHEN THEY HERE THE RUMBLE OF ALL THOSE ZUKI TIRES ROLLING IN  ;D  MATTY D.  ::)

I wish the neighbors ran from my Zuk. I wish we had a zuk club around here. Or, any club for that matter. It sucks not having anything. I want to move to California.
-
;DThat is why we go to MOAB! There are tons of Zuks and most everyone is nice and enjoys talking with other Zuk owners. Last year I was blown away by all the killer rigs and the cool people. That is the reason I am driving 17 hours to go again! You could start a club locally as well. It is infectious. Jeff 8)
-
17 hours isn't anything, I'd have to drive 36 :o
-
:'( OK. Just trying to help.
-
Hey j2... .. Maybe I missed this, but, whatchoo drive? How can I spot you in Moab?
-
I know!!! No problem
-
The problem with angled shocks is increased body roll.
I wouldn't if you don't have to.
-
I will be driving a black and silver '98 Kick Sport with a 2" lift, black stock wheels, 265's, MN plates and stickers of course. 8)  What about you hcgalvin?
-
What about you hcgalvin?
There's a funny question! She'll be driving that big SASKick, with a Heather Galvin installed behind the steering wheel, and a great big grin!!!
-
:PDuh! That was a silly question! I didn't even check it out before I asked!:o Sorry about that... See ya out there, I would be very interested in checking out the SAS kick. 8)

VERY, VERY Impressive. That is a great Job. I think my wife would want one of those and I think I would have fun building it ;D
-
Quick question, What are the red things under the front end? Gotta admit, I am not a big Track/Kick fan, but THAT looks GREAT!! ;D

Not a big fan? It took me awhile but I'm a believer now.
Those red things look like a hook-up point for a towbar.
-
Heather,
I am taking tha tyou used stock sammy axles under that AWSOME RIG? I have to say that I am very impressed with the suspension. What springs are you running BTW?
David & The Rage
-
BTW............also there is another member on the Zuwharrie board that is doing the same thing to a white tracker. I think he is going to run 34's on it.
-
I am the co-builder of Heather's truck and the builder of the front axle. The front end is a hybrid front using sammy knuckles on a shortened kick rear housing. That makes it a large diff wide track sammy front. The rear is a reinforced kick rear.
-
Heather's front axel ia a Sidekick/Samurai hybird.
Bone stock Samurai axels are too short to fit "properly" on a Trackick.  Thats why everyone who uses them for a SAS run big |removethispart|@$$ wheel spacers to make up the width differance.
Edit: Gah got beat to it again! I'm slow today :P
-
:DOff the subject slightly, has any one done the SAS with "yota axles?  I am considering this but want to run coils or coilovers in the front.  Any info?  I CAN'T WAIT TO LEAVE FOR MOAB!!!
Another thought, what about swapping a really strong IFS out of a full size rig?  Any thoughts?
