Title: POWER STEERING PROBLEM
Post by: Wildman on September 29, 2012, 06:57:27 PM
I have a 1.6 8V tracker engine in my 88 Samurai. I assume it has the stock 1.6 pump and bracket. My problem is the pump is to close to the steering shaft and has rubbed a hole into the supply line. The pulley is about 1/16" from the steering shaft spline where it clamps onto the steering box.  Is there an easy fix for this or do I just need to fabricate a new bracket that relocates the pump above the steering shaft.

On mine I put another stock bracket above the other bracket it bolted to the block and then I welded the two together for a little added strength it was to be a temp kind of thing that was ten years ago.lol

Yea,  I could see how that would work.  I will try to fab a whole to bracket later today and see how that works out.

Thanks for yout input and help

Most people move the pump up (move the bracket up on the block).
