Hey guys,
So I bought a samurai a few months ago with a homemade SPOA made with blocks and just altogether not good. It's on 35's with supposidly 5:29 r&p (probably 5:12 or 5:38) and a rear locker. All on stock axles ( also not that great). Fortunately the body and frame is mint so I have a good base to start.
I've come across a great donor samurai with brand new 31x 11.5 x 15 bfg km2's as well as a lot of great parts.
For now I'm going to remove the blocks on the lift to bring it down to a standard SPOA size and run the 31's and someone is buying the 35's. Here are my questions:
1. I need to know how my rig well run with this gearing and 31's. I won't be doing much highway going. Mostly a hunting rig.
2. Should I be touching the t/c ratio from stock with this setup?
3. My plan for next spring is put the TrailTough complete yj kit for $1359. Does this cover all my suspension needs(high steer, proper SPOA).
4. Well I need to go to a 32-33 tire to fill the wheel wells, I hate too small of a tire with lifts.
Thanks guys. I have done my research and read 100's of pages. Any other advice is appreciated.

When I bought my first Samurai, even with stock gearing, tires and no lift, I always thought it was geared to high. I completed a SPOA lift and installed 31x10.50x15, I also installed this gear set from: http://www.trail-gear.com/samurai-transfer-case-gears (http://www.trail-gear.com/samurai-transfer-case-gears)
It helped a lot and was very easy to install. I didn't purchase the optional output flanges and don't think I'll ever need them. I had the chance of driving a friends Samurai that he installed lower R&P's and still had stock tcase gears, with almost the same lift and tires and he really lacked low range. I felt some difference from the R&P swap but I suggest change the tcase gears and that is all! Thanks, hope this helps!
