can i get specs on how wat size around i need to make spacers for an 89 tracker... like wat size hole and wat size do i machien it to, also what type of material should i use, i was thinkin aluminum, but if you have ne sugestions
-
i am gonna do the same thing too, but i need to know what size to machine them down too, i was thinkin of using steel, i am gonna be using a lathe to make them
-
i will 3rd the desire for that info!
also i have a ? for the peeps that have them, it seems that every time i hear of a certian size coil spacer put in the actual lift is more, why is that?
i would like to make my spacers out of Delrin or some other poly, anyproblems with that?
last question, how much coil lift can you get away with and NOT mess up your camber?
-
I got a set coming from RRO, already on the Big Brown Truck. I'll measure them for you guys if nobody else knows.
-
ok thanks dude thats a big help
-
Wouldn't the measurements needed for the coil spacer be fairly easy to obtain with just some ruling device and your Track/Kick?

No problem :)

if i were to make the coil spacers 2" how much lioft would that egt? 2" or more/less ??? and it would be a good idea to make strut spacers?

;Di can hardly wait! hey, check you bumper height pre/post to, eh? would love to know. what thickness are the ones your getting?

ya, i do everything that way, would just be nice to just know ahead of time for a change :P

Will do. They're 1 1/8". I've heard so many different quotes for lift height using these spacers I really won't know how much lift I'll get until they're installed.

Just checked the UPS Site and they were in SALINA, KS at 2:43 P.M. so they're about half-way here. Delivery is scheduled for Tuesday. One question though, as cheap as these are from RRO why would you guys want to make them yourself? They're like $90.00 delivered.
-
90 bucks, man that can go towards insurance and such ;) , i was gonna just buy mine but my metal work teacher said that if i was gonna make them on th lathe he will give me the steel and lots of marks for doing it.

Nope, according to the UPS Site they're in Memphis and should be delivered tomorrow. Here's the progress so far and to make a note of RRO Service these were ordered on March 22. :)

well ok, i THINk tonights the night, gona rip it appart, measure and then machien up the spacers... ne more fast info would be great
-
having mixed thoughs ahh lol, what if i just put in some taller springs? what springs work ? F 150?
-
Well, you can go with the GV Spring Budget Lift http://www.zukiworld.com/month_030104/feature_sidekickbudgetlift.htm but I was also hoping for a little softer ride after the RRO Spacers and the GV Springs would cost me at least what I paid for the spacers.
-
DirtDevil, The GV springs work, but im not sure about the ride comfort after, but on the article it was doen on a 4 door,
so whats the width they have to be taken down to fit in the spring ???
-
welll damn eh, jenny got the flu, had to put it off... yea i could prolly use a bit more studying, i was just in a real... just do it mood all of a sudden lol u know ::)
-
yah thats what im like, i want mine lifted so bad ;D
-
Let me start by saying that if you make these and have problems it's not my fault. I have only given you the measurements that you could obtain yourself by disassembling your rig and not the thickness of RRO Spacers because it's their product and I believe everybody needs to make a living. As you can see from the measurements there are two different sizes and to be honest I don't know which is front or back as there are no instructions with or part numbers on the product. After measuring all 4 it's also apparent that the size can vary slightly. They are also chamfered inside and I have no way of measuring this angle. I still think it’s a bargain price for a product that has been designed specifically for your vehicle. It took one week from the time I ordered until UPS left them at my door. Good Luck. :)

Oh, one other thing. I don't know what the RRO Spacers are made of but they STINK! Smell real Bad! :P
-
The spacer with the slightly larger inside diameter is the for the front.
-
Thanks Rod ;D
-
The spacer with the slightly larger inside diameter is the for the front.
why is that? for the bumper? and thanks for the dims, what are the heights of the two sections? ??? the hgt of the large dia will be your lift i am guessing so that will vary by what you would want, but the hgt of the small section might be slightly critical for fit?
-

The front springs have a slightly larger diameter, or so it seemed when I installed my lift.

As you can see from my measurements post my conscience won't let me post the thickness. I think it should be self-explanatory. I don't have a problem helping fellow Zukers out but if I gave all the dimensions it would be encroaching too much on their product and we need to support the Vendors that support this site and our rigs.
:)

8)thats cool, i agree, thanks 8)
-
;D Glad you understand ;D
-
has anyone made a set yet???
-
yup
i dont run them tho!! my mom does
-
Thanks for the info, I'm looking to modify a set of XJ spacers I have laying around. I got them off of EBAY last year for about $20 shipped. I'll measure them up soon.
Michael
-
right on thanxs alot for the specs eh ! machiening em up tomorrow.. ill get some pics up for you all
-
There is a slight variance in all dimensions on my set except the thickness. Hmmm, must not be an exact science I guess. Looks like they've been turned on a lathe and not molded.
-
it doesnt matter how long the peice that sits in the coil is does it? like theres the part thats 107 MM and the part up from it in your diagram thats like 61mm... i was just wondering cuz i need to go buy the material tonight, unless i have access to some 5 1/4" shaft that my dad needs.. he said he'l pick up a foot extra if i need it
-
for the part thAT goes in the coil, i was thinkin 2 inchs???? that to small?? should it be longer?
-
dirt devil, can you put some pics up when yer done? and explain what materials u used, that would be so cool, good luck makin them i am probly gonna start cutting my material tommrow (if i got the right stufff)
thanks dude
Spencer
-
Don't have the spacers with me tonight, they're in the shop, but the whole thing is less than 3" tall I'm sure. But that would be relative to how much lift you want. I've heard over 2" of lift from spacers and your asking for trouble.
-
yah, mine are gonna be exactly 2 inchs of lift, so i was thinkin i should just do 2 inchs inside the shock too
-
I did my XJ 2" coil spacers today.  A  2.5" = 64mm  hole saw worked perfect.  The XJ spacers look like they were made to fit once the center was open up with the hole saw. ÂÂ
Spacer,  part I cut from the center,  Stock Sidekick coil spring isolator.

Chopped a Kick fram at the mirrors forward.  Now I have a jig to work my custom suspension off of.

yea ill snap some pics when i do it.. couldnt get material today, scrap yard was closed when we got there... did some thinking tho... does any one know about volvo springs, i was lookin at some on the turbo models and the older models look prety interesting ;)
-
Just on the topic of looking interestring. I was checking out a 1990 Range Rover Front axle. Radius arm design (Like 78 ford) with coils and very close to Track / Kick width.
But nothing I could use as far as spacers, I didn't measure up the coils.

wow i thought i was the only one that would do somthing like that you build stuff. i guess we have alot in common

I got my spacers installed today and wanted to give those that are making their own spacers a tip. Add at least a millimeter or two to the 76mm dimension. The RRO Spacers fit tight. So you will need a little more tolerance for aluminum.
;D
-
thanxs dude, hows the truck look ?? driven it yet?
-
The truck looks and drives great. No problems at all. I bought a set of TRW Camber Bolts at Advance Auto and they seem to do the job. I used a pitch gauge from Sears to check the camber but will soon be getting an alignment.
NOTE: I rented a exterior spring compressor from Autozone and it helps a lot with the install.
