Title: Need advice on calmini super 5"
Post by: Sky189 on October 21, 2012, 08:55:45 PM
I am new here and looking at buying the calmini super 5" lift and wanted to hear how good it works from some people that have it. I also took out my stock 88 Sammy today to test out the 4 wheel drive after I bought it and climbed around on some stuff and when I took it out of 4low and back in to 2 wheel is started running like shit. Any input would be greatly appreciated ! Thanks!

What are your needs?  What size tire do you want to run?

As far as poor running, you might have a leaking vacuum hose, which will cause a lean running condiion.  You could have also dislodged some dirt in the fuel line or carb when you were offroading.

Looking to do some mild offroading. And want to run 31/10.5-15 tires

Why do you want to run 31" tires?  Mainly for looks?

If you are only going to do mild wheeling, I would keep the tire size down as larger tires negatively impact road performance.
You will also need to look at gearing for running larger tires.

I'm not to worried about road performance i just drive it around town a little never on the highway. and plan on doing some gearing as soon as I can afford it. What size of a tire do you recommend   ?

31" tires are a good size for a Samurai.  However, if you're not going to do much wheeling though, I would look at something more like a 235/75 (29" tire) and go for a lower lift.  It will handle better on the road and you will also get better fuel economy.
