I have a 1990 5spd Manuel sidekick with 5.12's I'll be getting a 4.2 tcase and was wondering how high range would be with 32's I know I'd lose 5th but would 4th be alright for highway? I'll be putting a steel front housing and third member. As well as a toy cv conversion. How about 33's or is that just gonna screw my gearing for dd?

Check out Drone637's White Rabbit project http://www.zukiworld.com/forum/build-diaries-how-to-diy/project-white-rabbit/msg283704/#new (http://www.zukiworld.com/forum/build-diaries-how-to-diy/project-white-rabbit/msg283704/#new) . We did quite a bit of testing to run 33's w/o trimming or body lift. We ended up trimming the front fenders, and moving ball joint forward 1.5" and out .75". He is running a 3 spd auto and was able to change to 5.125 diffs. Finding taller gears for you will be hard and expensive, and then they won't be as strong as what you have.
I see others running 33's w/5.125's but the power loss is going to be very noticeable, especially for a DD.

Hmm ill probably go with 31's then. And keep my eye open for a 89.5 to pick up for gears

I am running 31" tires with my 5-spd and 5.12 gears (also have 4.24:1 TC gears but that doesn't come to play here). 5th gear is doable until you hit the grades. Here in CA, we have a small hill called the Grapevine where I have to downshift to 4th. Average speed is still 55 the entire way up the GV. We make this drive to play in Hungry Valley and the highway drive isn't bad.

Sweet 31's it will be. It just looks weird with 5 inches of lift and. 235's lol

Update. Got some falken rocky mountain ats 31 10,50's on. Man it looks 1000 times better. So far city driving seems fine. I'll give a update after some more driving.
