Title: Front end bumping and grinding?
Post by: nomaad on March 31, 2004, 12:28:42 AM
Just recently installed a Calmini lift that replaces pretty much everything in the suspension system.

Problem is when in reverse (only time the noises are noticlble) there is bumping and knocking sound from the passenger front end. At first I thought it my be the spring not seated properly in the upper cup, then I checked the new tie rod ends and ball joints, last night I sprayed down the sway bar with silicone lube and still the noise prevails.

Only in reverse and extreme when the truck is flexed like backing out of the drive. Any ideas????javascript:huh()

Thanks in advance,
Bill ??? ???

Are your tires rubbing on anything in the front?  An agressive tire can make some weird sounds when they catch on something?

When your in reverse it will squaut down the front.  Just a thought.

You could also do the old, "get your biggest friends to get the front end bouncing" and see if you can find it.

Are you able to get someone to drive it in reverse with you laying on the ground next to it. Then locate the noise.

However, since there is a lift, recheck all bolts for tightness. Don't forget ds.

Make sure you re torque all the bolts you loosened when you put the lift in.

I know mine make a few clunking noises before I re torqued the bolts.  It may also be a worn balljoint that attaches to your spindle.

Just some thoughts.
