I have owned my 88 Samurai since new...This weekend I installed new bearings and synchros at 148K miles. This is the first repair on this otherwise problem free vehicle. My problem is, once I reassembled the transmission, I can not turn the transmission by hand when it is in any gear. It turns easily when in neutral and does not make any noise. Anyone have any ideas?
UPDATE
......I took the transmission apart again and had a good long look at it. I discovered that I had installed the High speed synchronizer hub set backwards! This prevented the mainshaft from turning when any gear was selected. All good now, I will install it tomorrow morning and be back on the road. :)

Good find! I hate having to take transmissions back apart.

The devil is in the details. It is always the little things that get you. Glad you got it sorted out so quickly.
