Title: oil change then no spark! HELP!

Needing help! I have a sami that i have the 1.6 8v swapped in it. The wiring harness was done by trail tough, and everything ran just fine this am. I did an oil change on it, and the oil took forever to sift down to the pan. so in an effort to hurry things along i unplugged the wire from the coil to the cap, spun the engine a few times, and topped the fluids off. I then re-attached the wire to the coil and now there is no spark! and it will not start! WTF? Also when i spun it over there was clicking or popping like it was  sparking even though the coil was not plugged into the cap. ANYONE  have this happen before? i am baffled, and a few other gear heads are too.... please help if ya can!

I'm pretty sure if you spin the engine without the coil wire hooked up and it ( the coil wire ) grounds to metal causing sparks, you may have fried your igniter, coil and possibly your ECM.

it was unplugged from the coil. not the cap

As bentparts said, you could have fried one of your ignition components.  Time to either start checking them, or if you can borrow known good ones, swap each component out one by one and see which one is bad.
Anytime I turn the engine over and don't want it to spark, I simply unplug the wiring harness plug on the coil.

Turning the engine over will NOT in any way, shape or form speed up oil drainage from the head to the oil pan. Remember that for the future.

What wire did you unplug? the main spark cable? If you removed the main spark cable between the coil and cap you could have accidentally pulled the end off of it.

yes the main wire going from the coil to the distributor. the coil is an after market coil, thats why i didnt unbolt the wires to it, i just pulled the wire from the coil and left the other end still attached to the distributor.

Makes me wonder what he was using for oil? 90 weight gear lube?  :laugh:

fixed!! busted wire! and nope 80 wieght gear oil ;)

The clicking you were hearing may have been the injector "firing".
