Title: axle swap ?
Post by: willgivens18 on November 12, 2012, 12:07:05 AM
I did a 4.3 v6 swap and the spoa lifted yj springs on my samurai. But my tire size was 30". I want to go to a 38". So my question is what axle combo will support this, or will the stock axles hold. I will mostly be in mud no major rocks.

You can check out my build for a lift with 38" tires. I have the Toy axles with v6 thirds but I am running a beefed up hybrid motor. The Dana's way be a better option with a 4.3.

Well I just don't know if I should go with Dana 44, Dana 60. I plan on supercharging it in the future. If toy will hold then I could do that. Thanks for the help

Toyota axles are stronger than dana 44s. You could put some money into a set of toyota and they should hold up. Im not sure how hard its going to be to find a dana 60 with the drop on the correct side.

Since the swap I need the front hook up on the passenger side rear needs to be center. Also how easy will the swap be. I did the motor, transmission, and transfer case myself.

The swap is fairly easy. Are you going to use leaf springs of a 4 link?

theres a kit for it yj springs and yoda axles. But you can do it on the cheap with a little bit of hunting around for parts

I want to try and do it myself. I just want to make sure toy axles will hold the power and tires I want. I don't want to replace parts later. One and done at least I hope so.

yoda axles will hold up. any axle will brake if you're not carefull. Trail tough or lowrange offroad should have everything you need.
