my 97 sport has been very good to me until now. I'm running on like 2 1/2 cylinders maybe less. I have low compression in 2-3-4 especially 2-3 I'm wondering if its worth pulling and sending out the head. I've already taken it off the road and replaced it with something that runs on reg gas if I keep it will be my kids. I'll be doing the work myself except for the machining.
I just hope im not being blinded by my love for this truck it was my daily driver 128 miles round trip to work.

Could be some burnt valves or a head gasket. Especially, if it suddenly happened. Both of those scenarios are not uncommon.
Worn rings and leaky valves will still allow an old engine to run, but it will be low on power and consume much more gas & oil. Since yours is not running, I tend to think it is the valves/ head gasket.

There's not enough detail to really assist.
A 97 daily driver that's been running 128 miles a day would be a high mileage vehicle, a rough calculation gives half a million miles - that's a lot of wear on the bores.
At the least we need to see the compression numbers both wet & dry - that should give you some indication of whether the rings are sealing properly or not.
