I recently replaced bearings and seals in my 87 Zuk transfer case, front output shaft bearing was bad, would not go into low range before the rebuild. Bench checked by operating input from tranny using impact, everything shifted great and went into all ranges. Installed in my Zuk and test drove, still would not lock into low range, it feels like the shifter will not go all the way, a buddy where I work had the same problem, he removed his shifter and used a torch to heat the shift handle and bent it back, he says it works fine now. Just wondering if anyone else had the same problem and this is the right fix.
Also installed 1999 Mustang seats, they work great.

I had the errant picture posting too. Some file association issues. I had it a couple times too. You can modify your post and remove them by un-checking. Just some bugs getting worked out of the forum.
The modification on your shifter... I cannot advise on. I don't have any experience rebuilding transfer cases.... yet.

Thanks for the modify tip.

What is the gap you have between 2 seats? would a tuffy console fit?

No body lift right?

Tuffy console will not fit between the mustang seats.

Shifting into low range problem was solved by notching out the floorboard so the shift rod would travel further, also had to install a leather boot, to give the shifter more flexibility, works fine now.
