OK, here are some real steel pics of the new plate style bumper.  I think the lower half is ready to go.  We are thinking about offering it with the tube as pictured, no tube as pictured in the last pic and with a pre-runner style tube setup, pics of that tomorrow hopefully.  We're also considering switching the center hoop to 2" tube.  Still need to bend one and see what it looks like though.
The weight was 74lbs.  The main bumper is 3/16".  The mounting brackets and recovery points are 3/8"  Not sure on the price yet.
Hopefully the haters can see now that it looks nothing like that other bumper now.  ;)

Tucked in tight.  The grill is trimmed a little to put the winch in tight for a great approach.

Gotta love those white wall tires!

Have you thought about doing the upper tube more like a stinger? I think that would look nice. 8) Either that or the inner tube should be thicker. IMO Dont get me wrong, its lookin good, just my 2 cents.

Innovation, what a concept.  ;)  Looks good!  First front bumper I have seen that I might buy.  Now if it would just hold air...

Awsome Idea, Can't wait to get my hands on one ;D
Soon, Right? ;) ;D

Looks good Jim, I cant wait to see what you come up with on the pre-runner bumper 8)

Why not angle the light hoops to match both the center hoop and the line of the lights?
-
I like it...  ;D
Could the outermost vertical tubes be at the same angle as the edge of the grill though. It would be perfect after in my opinion.
-
RE: angling the light hoops. We thought about trying it..... I think it will end up looking goofy, but we'll give it a shot and see.
-
That's looking real nice Jim. I was wondering what size winch that is (9000lb intergrated) ? and does one have to cut away the little lip that's under the grill to fit the winch.
Thanks, Eric
-
Excellent, most excellent
I am standing in line awaiting the final design

Yes and yes. ;D
If will hold a 9000 lb winch and that is a Warn 9000i. You do need to trim the plastic lip. I didnt want to push the whole bumper out another 2" to save the minor trimming.
On another note, we tried the angled headlight guards and I was wrong on that one! That's why I like to get feedback from you guys. It actually looks really sweet. The 2" center hoop looks better too. Pics soon of those changes and the pre-runner version later today.
-
Jim,
Will your bumper(s) attach properly if we have that "other" companies 6" combo lift?
-
Kudo's on putting the shackle attachment points on the front. Wish my bumper had those.
Personally, I have issues with the headlight hoops, and anything in general, called a "brush guard". If you're "treading lightly" you should never need that stuff.
-
This one has a 2" center hoop and the angled headlight hoops.

The new, angled light guards look kickass!
If I had a decent looking kick to put it on, I'd buy one. :)

Something doesn't quit look right on that one,Maybe the bars are to thin?
Not pointie enough. Not Big enough?
Just tilt this one out more and round out the main hoop to more of a point,.
Kind've more like this.
You can make the hoop a bolt on part (easier shipping) and owners can weld it on if they like?
And thats my thoughts.
PLUS, when Can I expect mine? ;D

What about bringing the main hoop farther to the end of the bumper? Go up about hood high?
And the 4dr mounts are differant from the 2dr mounts ;)

I called dibs first ;) ;D

I like the shape of the prerunner version, but it would look better if the main hoop connected right at the corners instead of being set back a couple inches, IMO.

he needs money before he can finsh them, send it! ;)

Bob I think you are wrong on this issue. My hoop has saved me from a LOT of rocks smashinh in my front clip. Maybe wheeling is different at the Mall but out on the trail I'll take them any day ;)
-
I really like the overall look of the bumper. Though, I've got a few questions:
How would a hi-lift be used on the bumper to lift the truck? That front angle of the plate underneath looks to steep to hold the finger of the hi-lift. Or does the finger fit all the way under the bumper. I think the finger is some 2-3" beyond the face of the hi-lift. (If finger is not the proper term, what is?)
Since the bumper is sturdy enough, is it possible to get driving lights built-in?
Is it possible to get locations behind the bumper to mount night driving lights (crawler lights I guess they would be called)?
For the loops, the larger center looks much better. Have options for light tabs and hi-lift mount tabs?
From a standpoint of anger ;D ;D, the light wrap around hoops would look really cool if they curled down just ever so slightly to the center hoop.... >:(
-
I love that pre-runner. Looks great 8)
Zig
PS, Bob, where are you riding that the trails are all wide enough to not need a brush guard? This end of the county will grow over a well established trail in two-three weeks. I could not do with out one unless I wanted to leave all my paint in the brush.
-
Yeah Bob.. I thought you lived in the Colorado Mountains??
This is pretty typical here..

We just got light hoops made for our front bumper, and just need to put them on. I'll feel much more relaxed when they are. The front corners of my fenders are ALL scratched up.
-
So?
how're we doing? ;D
Can't wait, It feels worse than X-mas ;) ;D
-
I love the front pre runenr bumper! looks awesome, i think it may look a lil better if the round stock was a little bigger, dunno what size it is but maybe like a half inch wider
-
The bumper looks awsome. ;D I know in December when I finally buy a bumper that I'll be ordering it from Shrock. Hope a rear bumper follows.
-
Any recent up-dates?

and I'm still waiting ;) ;D (Pink Floyd)

Jim,
bumpers look solid, very nice work. I think you have some real winners on your hands there. And these should sell like hot cakes! I know I am anxious to see what the back bumper/tire carrier is going to look like. Can't wait to get a set of these bad boys on my buggy. I have been watching your indevelopment section of your website for months!!!!
kick ass!

Update:
We finished the brackets for the early and late model 2Dr's (1989-1998). There will be two bracket options: No body lift or a 2" & 3" BL version. We were able to make the BL brakets adjustable for both a 2" & 3" Body Lift.
I dont know whether the bumper will work on a 4dr or not yet.
We are going to run a first batch of five. Intro price is $399. That's bare finish with either tube setup.  Minus $30.00 with no tube on top. No xtra charge for the body lift brackets on the first run.

Your in at the intro price.

I'd definately buy one, looks awesome! unfortunately, however, i'm nowhere near ready for body add-ons.. i still have a few hundred to pay before i can bring it home, and then I gotta worry about the lift and tires... hopefully, i'll be ready by the time you build the matching rear bumper, and i can buy both together...

Not such a great idea to put a bar in front of the headlights (see the prerunner bar). It'll give a pretty neat shadow on the ground. You've gotta watch that, especially with a body lift if the bumper isn't raised up, then the light can get more interference, and people will wonder what's up with the lights.
I have no idea what the DOT rules are on this either.
