Title: swapping a 1.9 turbo diesel
Post by: TDtintop on July 27, 2015, 06:46:44 AM
Finally picked me up a another samurai last week. Awaiting a bunch of goodies from Jeff over at Acme adapters.. I purchased the 1.9 TD for quality German auto local right here in So cal. Any advise or tips would be appreciated!! I'm looking for a nice suspension. Anybody have any luck with Rocky roads coil kit?? Also I'm wanting to run the power steering on my tin top and plan on keeping the ac. Anybody make the ac brackets??

First - why do you want to do an engine swap?
Second - the most common engine swap upgrade on a Samurai is probably the Suzuki 1.6 from a tracker or Sidekick - relatively easy, well documented

Last but by no means least - diesels have narrower power bands, and produce their power at lower rpms than gasoline engines - make sure you understand what the tradeoffs with a diesel swap are before you start.
