Title: HELP Rear Brake Lines & LSPV. 2001 Grand Vitara 4X4
Post by: schnako22 on September 02, 2015, 06:42:35 PM
I have a 2001 Suzuki Grand Vitara, and My rear brake line rusted out and the other one that runs parallel to it is pretty bad as well.  I Need the LSPV ( Load sensing Proportioning valve) and the 2 brake lines that run to the rear of the truck from that valve.   I live in wisconsin so the junkyards all have very rusty ones, to the point where I broke one at a yard trying to free it loose after soaking it in wd40.

I cannot find them anywhere, I cannot find Brake diagrams that give the part numbers either.
I would love someone to save my week, and give me a link to napa or carquest that has these

Please list any infomation(Links) or if you have these parts!!!

I really need a part / Model number that I can use to find them online
Can I get a flexible brake line kit(long rubber hose) that I can run myself??

Also, what size are brake lines on these things, 1/4 or 3/8?

I know I am not the only one dealing with this issue.
Any legit input or ideas, or even someone that has overcome this issue, please chime in, I am new here!
BTW, my vitara was inherited from my aunt and has 61k miles on it, and I dont want to start considering getting rid of a good little truck from some stupid issue.

The LSPV (if fitted) is at the other end of the vehicle, over the rear axle, and connected to it by a spring - what is shown in those pictures would be best described as a junction block - it joins the steel brake lines to the rubber hoses that allow for movement between the truck's body & frame.

Long rubber hoses would make for a very soft soggy feeling & possibly ineffective brake system - the rubber swells under pressure.

Hopefully Dudley will be along and can find you a part number - I don't have access to my parts manual at this time.

Dudley, this block sits on the inside of the right frame rail, just below the firewall - the brake lines come down the firewall, connect to two short rubber hoses, and then into the junction block.

Schnako - it may be possible to "re-plumb" the brake system to work without these hoses - not all body on frame vehicles have them, Toyota, as an example, wrap the brake line into a "spring", perhaps 1-1/2" in diameter, and 5~6 loops - all that is required is to allow for the slight flexing that occurs between the body & the frame.

Edit................

Sorry - wrong forum - Schnako - Dudley is not a member of this forum - post the question & pictures over at the Suzuki forums (www.suzuki-forums.com (http://www.suzuki-forums.com)) and either he or Max will help you get part numbers.
