Title: Drain Plugs
Post by: adamd on May 16, 2005, 10:42:08 AM
So I drove through a lake and got stuck and the car filled with water when I opened my door  ;D So I get home and took out my seats, and took out my carpets and there they were! 2 drain holes on each side!!!

I never knew...

yeah, sometimes i cant believe some people still have carpet in their zooks.

that was the first thing i did, take out all the carpet.
yeah, its a bit more noise, and it gets a bit warmer on the feet, but so what?

there should be on drain hole in each foot well, 2 dr, front left and right, and behind the seats left and right, or rear foot wells. there are also 2 more where the back seats are. i love it, after a muddy or samdy trip, off come the 8 bolts, and out come the 2 seats. in with the hose and waters, and after all, a aqua vac helps heaps.

try not let any water pool or sit inside too long. use a cloth to dry it all out, or a vac which can vac water.

it;s sorta a long story... I was yelling to my friend and he tried to pull me out and he couldn't. So I told him to jack up the car with the hi lift, he was looking for a flat slab to put the jack on or it wouldn't lift, so as I'm waiting(now out of the car )  he finds a snake and throws it in my car ;D The doors had to open lol

I want pics of the beating if any are avalible LMAO.

Hay  great Ideal, get some industrial Bladers, like the ones you use on military rafts, and make bladers that you can inflate from inside the wheel wells, get stuck pump up the bladers and float it out?

Humm wo to lift a 5000 LB rig stabely you need to displase the same mas of water?
math question of the day how do you make a zukies density les then water?
IE how much water needs to be displaced to make it float?

then how do you mount bladers like that on a zuk?

then build it, and test it.

Ok for the answer of the day, to stabely float a 5,000 lb rig one should displace 6,000lb of water, equating to 96Cubic feet of water, witch equals rufley 167,000 cubic inches of water,
now if one were to say using 6 bladders on under the front and back bumpers, and one attached to the front and rear quarters

and saying that each one of these bladders were the same size, and all wre 48IN long and must displace equal amounts of water.
so V=28000 cubic inches H=48inches r=?

V/(pi*H) = R squared.
so basicaly you would need 6 bladders that were 4fet long and had a diamiter of 2.24feet that would inflat under the surface of the watter and be attached to the undercarage, causing the vehicle to float, and be stable enough to walk around on or fish off of. now. to find a vender to build them. and the a compresser and a way to mount them.
cheaper and easer then buying a boat

;D

then you need anouther switch called raft mode ;D

yes i am insane, but this sounds intresting enough to attempt Imagin what ppl would think? a soft top zuki floating down the lake/river with someone standing on the back fishing?

then it promptly drives out of the watter dude hops out rolls the bags back up and puts them in there cubie holes,
and rages on.

I had an idea they were somewhere, what I DIDN'T know was the plugs were missing, boy was that a mess of muddy water, and the worst thing is, the mud smelled a little like manure........

My SWB used to float when it was new and still had good seals. Not for long though as the water comes in through gaps in the rockers and at various other points. If you made the effort you could get it watertight and it would float OK but then it wouldn't have any grip to get to the other side.
