Title: Samurai front axle 26 spline conversion
Post by: CCOR on December 28, 2015, 07:10:24 AM
I've got a 1988 Samurai at the shop with 22 spline axles in front.  Is there a make model, year that was equipped with 26 spline axle shafts that I can get shafts from instead of buying aftermarket chromoly axles?
Thanks,
Bobby

My 88 1/2 has 26 spline front axles.  I know because I just took my differentials to get new ring and pinion installed and I checked to see if the front and back were the same.

All samurai stock fronts are 22 spline

The Sammy with the 26 spline front axles probably has aftermarket axles in it and the side gears were swapped out with side gears from a Sidekick or Tracker to run the newer aftermarket (chromo?) axles.

All US samurais had 22 spline front axles, from the factory.
Usually people find 26 spline rear sidegears and swap in the front (or swap the whole third from a rear of a samurai into the front), in order to run the aftermarket 26 spline front axles.
