So my buddy has a '94 Sidekick, been rolled once, maybe twice, 300k plus... but was a dd until the trans started acting up.
He was given a blown engine '94 Tracker with 135K on it in great shape that we are currently swapping the sidekick motor into the tracker as a new DD.
Now I found a good running 1.3l minus the intake for $50 nearby. If we were to fix the transmission, can the 1.3l be bolted into the tracker and would it run down the road at 70mph.. albeit with no passing power but that's OK, we would use it up in the mountains on hunting trips.
Ive heard that the 8v 1.6l heads work on the 1.3l, but what about the 16v head we are taking off of the sidekick (we have to use the 8v on the tracker to keep the swap as easy as possible for the wiring).
If the head will fit, will it run with the stock ecu, or would I have to lie to the cpu to compensate for the 1.3l.
One last thing, the sidekick is running 30" tires right now but will probably put those on the tracker and the 235/75s on the sidekick, has the 5spd manual and is otherwise stock.. I.E. no lift, or big bumpers, winches.. none of that. He barely has the interior door panels and a casset player in it.

You would need a, hard to find, bell-housing to bolt the 1.3 engine to the sidekick/tracker transmission. That combination was only offered one year '89.
