Title: Testing/Maintenance on ECM
Post by: fever on March 23, 2004, 01:25:53 PM

Hi,

I have a 92 S'kick and I'm constantly having unknown problems with the distributor.  I'm thinking the ECM/PCM is causing it, but it's not showing any codes, and the car runs when I replace the distributor pickup.  Is there any way i can test the ECM to find out if it's bad?  Some sort of maintenance to make sure it's working optimally?

Thanks.

Try and get hold of a copy of the FSM. there are often CD versions cheap on eBay. The section on the TBI system (including the ECM) is over 100 pages long, there is also an additional 20 or so pages on the ignition in addition to what is in the main ECM section. The FSM may seem expensive but it is way better value for money than any of the other alternatives.
