Am looking at a sami divorced Tcase for 1st gen ranger. Will be behind 351w c4  . ? How well do they survive big tires and a v8

Kaboom!  It will not last behind a V8 and large tires.  The Samurai transfer case was designed to be bulletproof behind 1000cc/1300cc engines and relatively small tires. 

Also, Samurai cases have a 41% reduction in high range.  That is, they are not 1:1 in high range.

 Bad idea.... You need a case designed for a full sized rig.
Will you be driver or passenger drop? This is important to know if you need help locating a T-case.
As the stock Ford is a driver drop and the Zuke is passenger I'm assuming you have SAS'd the front end with something other than a Ford axle....
 Dana  18 / 20 / 300 / or an NP205 are all available in a divorced format, or can be converted to divorced.
