Title: Another Hitachi Carb Problem
Post by: FlyingFishing on January 20, 2016, 03:10:14 PM
I did some research through the forum and couldn't find anything, so if this has been previously discussed, I apologize.

I just bought a 1987 Samurai with the original Hitachi Carb.  It was running when purchased, but it was rough.  I decided to pull the carb and clean it as best I could.  I pretty much pulled the 5 top screws off (along with everything else) and cleaned the jets and all of the passage ways I could find and see.  Re-assembled everything, and it will only run now when I have the gas petal pressed all the way to the floor.  Any help would be great, and thanks!!!

I know this probably isn't what you want to here.
Stop now. You will have very little luck rebuilding a failed Hitachi carb.
Replace it with a Toyota 2TC carb / Webber / or CV .
All will serve you well if done right.
