I finally found a samurai with a decent body. My next project is a suspension lift and a 1.9 diesel conversion. It has a spring over axle kit and a high steer link already. The original 1.3 gas is a good runner but lacks power. I was told the transfer case has a 1 to 6 gear reduction. It does seem pretty slow in 1st gear low range. What would be a good suspension kit for max articulation? What is the best kit for the diesel swap. What vw engine is the best for the swap.I want a daily runner capable of some serious off road for hunting and fishing. I hear the smaller turbo for the diesel gives good low end boost with little lag. your thoughts pk

Well .... The best articulating DD SPOA conversion would be the YJ swap ( if done correctly. )
As for the diesel swap , I am not a fan so can be of little help.

Go over to zuwharrie, full diesel section over their with lots of knowledge. For the best diesel swap kit, acme will be the place to go. Very good crowd to deal with and will answer questions pretty quickly.
