Title: Do terminals at plugs need to be changed for H4 Bulb conversions on "86 Samurai?
Post by: Samuramateur on January 29, 2016, 09:51:20 PM
Are the connections the same for H4 bulbs as for the original Samurai sealed beam headlights?

The previous owner installed Hella H4 headlights in my '86 Samurai. I am installing the Low Range Relay Harness upgrade. I can't determine if the connections to the terminals on my plugs are original or if they had to be changed to accept the H4 bulbs. The wiring diagrams do not specify Top/Left/Right.
Should they be the same as originals? If so, the Low Range harness is a simple plug-in.

Thanks!

Update - I installed the Low Range Harness and it works great!

I did not change any terminals. Everything worked fine. I took the 12v power from the alternator rather than the battery.

It makes a HUGE difference in the light given off by the Hella H4's when they were hooked up with the original Samurai harness.
