Title: body lift with auto trans
Post by: standog on March 22, 2004, 02:34:46 AM
Is it more complicated to  lift an auto? I have done sticks before but never an auto. I want to get the OME lift kit but want to clear 235 or 30/9.5 tires and think I will need the body lift for them to fit.

Thanks

Nope, but you will need to weld in a shit-lever extension most likely.

Cool thanks for the advice. I have now made my mind up on the lift to get.

Don't forget, the 3rd generation Vitara/Tracker has a rack&pinion steering linkage. A body lift will interfere with the length of the steering linkage. Refer to the message of the Vitara finally lifted. Had to get a machine shop to correct the steering linkage.

I'm trying to get comfirmation from Overland Components in the UK on their body lift. Calmini is juggling with the idea of mass producing one. And I'm looking at just getting a simple 1" spacer to work.

Will it have the steering linkage problem fix? what are some of the other things problems I need to look out for with a lift of this size?

auto transmissions are cable operated, no mods needed there. T-case shifter will have to be extended though

As it stands right the kit will give you evey thing you need to do the body lift .  The only thing I'm not 100% about is the bumpers.

The list is for them.  And a little bridy told me  ::)  you'll need to wait till the fall on the bumper.  But keep bugging them they could move that up. Also emailed you back.
