Title: '87 SJ413 1.3l
Post by: Tumor on April 29, 2016, 06:01:40 PM
Hello,
I have a 1987 Suzuki Sj413 JX, standard apart from 30in tyres.
I was wondering what is the best 'bang-for-buck' modification I can add to it?

Cheers

Some used "deeper" Suzuki differential gears, like 4.30s.  It will provide your 1.3 engine more mechanical advantage to turn those larger tires both on road and off road plus make your 5th gear actually useful again.

I'd consider the best "bang for buck" to be a 1.6 swap - it does take a few bucks though.

Very true... but finding and even having a garage set-up and install some deeper geared used ring and pinions would be less expensive.  It all depends on how deep Tumor's pockets are.

not deep enough for a 1.6 conversion  ;)

If your using it just for wheeling a mini-spool will probably be the best money spent.  Otherwise some OME springs or 4.8:1 t-case would be a great mod.
