Okay so i have read that 94 4 door sidekicks vented front brakes bolt right up on a samurai for a big brake upgrade. My question is due to a friend locking up the motor on his 99 grand vitara, and willing to let me yank the brake hardware, will they swap over like the sidekick, or did they change the calepers and mounting hardware?

The brakes on a Grand Vitara are larger than the Sidekicks - the Sidekick's stock 15" rims will foul the calipers, as will most aftermarket 16" rims.

Okay thanks, thats the type of information i was looking for

if the calipers hit the rims you could always shave a couple thousands off. the 15" rims that I put on my 2002 hit the calipers so I just shaved them with a grinder to stop the grinding

Beagle - there's a slightly different dynamic here - we're not talking about a few thou here, we're looking at half an inch...
Your Tracker takes a 15" rim stock, so what you were doing is grinding to clear an aftermarket 15" rim.
The GV brake requires a 16" rim to clear, and not all 16" rims will clear - I don't see it as being possible to grind enough material for the Samurai's stock (or aftermarket) 15" rim to clear without rendering the caliper useless, and that is assuming that it can bolt up to the knuckle.

oops I didn't think it was that much, and grinding that much would render it useless

Can you get the wheels from the GV as well?
