I am currently stationed in Japan and one of the perks of living out here is the ability to bring a car home for free as log as we don't have one in storage. I sold my Tacoma before coming out here and have been getting the off-roading bug again. I am trying to decide between a Land Cruiser and a Jimny and one of the deciding factors will be parts availability in the states. Will Samurai parts fit a Jimny? The vehicle will be an early 90s or late 80s model. I will probably be looking at doing a Toyota axle swap when I get back. Has anybody used a US donor Tacoma axle on a Japanese Jimny before? The biggest issue I can think of would be working the steering linkage from the opposite side.
Anything problems in particular I should be looking out for other than rust with the 85-93 year Jimny/Samurai models?
