Title: 98 Tracker belt tensioner problems
Post by: Dirtster on September 12, 2016, 07:27:11 PM
My 98 Tracker needs a new belt tensioner on the A/C, power steering side and I can't find anyone who can order me one including the Chevy dealership. They can even find it on their computer. Any ideas? I'm going to check with some of the local salvage yards, but I'd rather have a new one.

The long way is to install a bigger motor (which won't have room for A/C pump) and then when it gets hot/muggy outside, take the top off and drive faster.         ;)  (you may have problems explaining this logic to your wife.)

Beagle..t, you went overboard and kept the A/C, which then necessitates recharging it.  Weather hear has been to good to run with the top on.  Now that yours is almost running by the time you get the A/C recharged you will need the top on and not the A/C.  (And I would get the A/C done before road miles.)

Dirtstr, did the tensioner break?  I would just get one from salvage yard (your idea).  I ended up making my PS pump bracket, which replaced the A/C bracket.  But that is a lot of work getting it aligned correctly.  I have a 95 motor setting on garage floor, but it did not have A/C.

Good luck on your search.
