Explanation :  It's called "Conditioning" they get
us used to paying $2.30 a gallon, then when they
drop it to only $1.89 we are happy, instead of pissed
off about the price of gas, mind you I remember my
mom commenting gas is $ .65 a gallon when will it
stop going up.  That was 25 years ago.... when will
it end ???   Ohh BTW Gasoline in Iraq is reported
to be $.05 a gallon, Ya I think we are being screwed,
Bastards  >:(

The local news reported that the closest gas station to my house was the highest in the USA for regular unleaded, $2.35 per gallon. My wife has a V-10 Ford Excursion. I found a station for $2.09 to fill the 40 gallon tank. $85.00!!!!!!! It may be conditioning, but it is going to crush the economy.

Yea the bastards OPEC determines how much they need to output to make the most money. IF they want the price to go up, they just cut back on how much they produce causing a higher demand for the product. And the enviro freaks dont want us drilling in Alaska, one of the richest Oil deposits in the world. Instead they would rather pay opecs rediculous prices :-/

Gimme a break - where do you think Alaska crude oil goes today?  JAPAN.  If they open up ANWR for drilling, not a DROP of it will go to us - it'll just line the pockets of the oil execs more.

That's f$#|removethispart|@ing ignorant. Were importing the shit from them(OPEC), playing their bullshit pricing game, but sending our shit to Japan >:(It would make since to use OUR resources for US, but then again, who would expect the government to do something that makes since, like drill, get the resources and make it stay in the country, and quit/cut back on the imported crude :-/ If the oil companies did not want to do it, hey dont drill there.

And to think, before the invention of the Gasoline
Engine Crude Oil was an unusable Comodity, the
only reason they drilled for "Oil" was for the Natural
Gas that came with it.

There is a story about a major gusher in Texas that
spewed oil for some ungodly long time, so they set
up some sort of dyke to keep it contained, it was a
pool of green gooey crude like 3 or 4 feet deep and
something like the size of a small lake, all because
it was a surplus product with no use.

Heck in the late 30s early 40s you could buy gasoline
for $.03-.04 a gallon, fill your tank for fifty cents, my
dad even talks about gas at $.25 a gallon, and that was
high Octane.

Uh, I remember 0.29 per gallon, back in the mid 60's.
Thought it was insane paying 0.75 a gallon in the mid 70's.   :o

I remember going on a trip to Florida with the family and Mom freaking out because we had to pay 1.00 a gallon. She was so pissed, that if it was not for Dad, she would of turned around and went home :o

time to start bugging calmini to come up with an alternative fuel conversion kit.

forget the alt fuel kit....bug them to come up with a larger capacity light weight plastic fuel tank.  my tracker would get awesome fuel economy if it's tank were bigger than a milk carton.

Shoot, if you have a 2-door, and you have a body lift, there's plenty of room to put in a tank from a 4-door, I think, plus raise it as well.

2-door:  11.1 Gallons
4-door:  14.5 Gallons

If that's not enough, go to some place like http://www.summitracing.com/ and order a fuel cell, that'll fit between the rails...

GV:  17.5 gallons ;D

Of course, the V6 gets only 20 mpg on a good day.  And due to the fine detail work from rocks, my tank now holds just over 15 gals. >:(

Dang, Tim - Mrs. Bobzooki's GV gets 23 consistently, and she drives about a million miles an hour...  But she's not swinging big meats either...
