Title: Replacing ignition switch due to missing keys
Post by: CurtD on December 17, 2016, 12:05:36 PM
Hello
Someone is giving me an old Samurai...but the keys are missing.  Before spending too much money on this thing is there an (easy) way to replace ignition so I'll have keys to see if this thing runs (did 2 years ago when it was parked and owner died).
Also, suggestions for trying to get it started? drain gas (how?), what else?

Thanks for any advise you can offer.

Jump start it - or - separate the ignition switch from the lock barrel and you can then turn the switch part with a screwdriver.

Jump start it - or - separate the ignition switch from the lock barrel and you can then turn the switch part with a screwdriver.

And having followed Fordem's advise, take the lock barrel to your locksmith and get new keys cut for it.  Then your ignition and doors will be same.
