Title: Trans issue
Post by: kreator on July 17, 2017, 09:23:33 AM
I did a engine and auto trans swap into my tracker with the complete wiring harness . When I start it up I can turn the O/D on and off but when I drive it the light flash's and wont shift into into second and goes to drive and then O/D .Its a 1993 Kick trans with O/D . Any thoughts ? Can it be a cable adjustment ? Is there a way to check the wiring for an issue ? Thanks for any help I can get .
It came out of one of my rigs that got wrecked and was working fine,

A 93 will be OBDI - and can be diagnosed using a paperclip - you may have a broken wire in the transmission harness.

I'm fairly certain that the OD light is used as a transmission code indicator on the vehicles with a separate transmission control module.

Possibly a pinched wire in the harness - if you can find the connectors the coil resistance should be in the 11~15 ohm range - disconnecting the battery may or may not clear the code.

I have the same transmission on a different vehicle and historic codes stored in the TCM don't appear to cause a problem - I had issues with a dog chewing the harness and the TCM detecting what seemed like every possible fault, a few hours with a soldering iron and heatshrink tubing and every thing worked fine, but the codes were still there if you checked for them.

Well got the TCM change out and now it shifts through the gears , now I just need to get the brake release power to shift it out of park to work .

Good to hear the new TCM makes the gear works now.
